WHY LIFESPAN BEFORE FLOOD IS MORE:

WHY LIFESPAN BEFORE FLOOD IS MORE:

Altering of the climate, atmospheric changes, changes in the hydrologic cycle, geologic features, a significant increase in harmful radiation reaching ground level, man's dietary habits went from solely plant-based to one where meat was eaten, and so on. These and many other factors led to man's much shorter lifespans.

DIET:
People were first permitted to eat meat after the Flood (Genesis 9:3), so some scholars thought the original vegetarian diet (Genesis 1:29) would have helped people live to such great ages. Some have further pointed toward Daniel and his request of a vegetarian diet (Daniel 1:8–16).
However, vegetarian diets never allowed people to live to such ages as 900 years even today. In fact, there’s little evidence that vegetarians attain a life span much different than those who retain meat in the diet.

INCREASE OXYGEN:

Increased oxygen levels prior to the Flood (which changed significantly after the Flood) would allow the body to better heal and eliminate disease.

ENVIRONMENT CHANGES:
The world changed significantly due to the Flood, Vegetation, as well as land and sea life, were drastically reduced.

Climatic conditions could have been a factor in the longevity of the ancients. There was a possible water vapor canopy that surrounded the earth before the Flood of Noah. This canopy would have produced a worldwide greenhouse effect resulting in a mild climate throughout the earth. In addition, this canopy would shield man from harmful radiation which has an effect on the aging process. At the great Flood this canopy collapsed and no longer protected man and the animals.

Again and again I have been shown that God is trying to lead us back, step by step, to His original design—that man should subsist upon the natural products of the earth. Among those who are waiting for the coming of the Lord, meat-eating will eventually be done away; flesh will cease to form a part of their diet. We should ever keep this end in view, and endeavor to work steadily toward it. CH 450
