SUGAR REDUCES IMMUNE SYSTEM
Sugar occurs naturally in all foods that contain carbohydrates, such as fruits and vegetables, grains, and dairy. Consuming whole foods that contain natural sugar is okay. Plant foods also have high amounts of fiber, essential minerals, and antioxidants.
Approximately 240 ml – of sugar cane juice (without any additives) contains 250 calories, with 30 gm natural sugars. It has zero content of fat, cholesterol, fiber and protein but contains sodium, potassium, calcium, magnesium and iron.
Sugar is made in the leaves of the sugarcane plant through photosynthesis and stored as a sweet juice in sugarcane stalks. Sugarcane is cut down and harvested then sent to a factory. At the factory, cane juice is extracted, purified, filtered and crystalized into golden, raw sugar.
This raw sugar is then taking to a refinery to be made into the table sugar we know and love.
Did you know table sugar doesn’t just come from sugarcane? It also comes from sugar beets! Unlike sugarcane, sugar beets grow best in cooler climates
Surprisingly, sugar beets accounts for about 55% of total sugar produced domestically. In sugar beets, the sugar is found in the roots. The beet is “topped” (cutting the top of the beet off) and sent to the factory for processing. The sugar beets are then washed, sliced and boiled in water to begin the extraction of sugar. This is then filtered and crystalized.
IS SUGAR BAD FOR YOU? Due to refinery process, It adds empty calories. It adds no nutritional value.
It takes about 75 grams (5 tbsp) of sugar to weaken the immune system. And once the white blood cells are affected, it's thought that the immune system is lowered for about 5 hours after. When your immune system is compromised, you are more likely to get sick.
Sugar consumption affects your body's ability to fight off viruses or other infections in the body. You know how your body needs certain cells to fight off infections? White blood cells, also known as "killer cells," are highly affected by sugar consumption.
DO VIRUS FEED ON SUGAR? During a viral or bacteria infection, it enter the body and multiply in its cells, often specifically attach themselves to the sugar structures of the host cells,
Bacteria and viruses have a sweet tooth! It's no coincidence when these microorganisms attack the human organism to make us ill, for example when they give us pneumonia or flu. The great majority, around 80%, of these bacteria and viruses seek out the sugars on the surface of our cells
You may be thinking you avoid clear sugar as a whole treats but you may want to think again, If you’re consuming any processed food like pizza, crackers or popcorn, sugary drinks, fast foods, cookies, cakes, Dessert, simple carbohydrates, Foods with a high glycemic index, you’re consuming sugar without knowing it as all processed foods break down into sugar in our blood stream.
. Refined sugar can:
* Reduce white blood cells perform
* Causes and Increase inflammatory condition
* In fact, obese people have fewer white blood cells with a reduced capability to fight infection.
* Higher blood pressure,
* Weight gain,
* Diabetes,
* Fatty liver disease,
* Makes your body Ph acidic
* You are tired and hungry all the time,
* Poor skin health and higher risk of developing acne. High sugar intake triggers secretion of androgen which results in acne. It also contributes to excess oil production and inflammation, worsen wrinkles and speed/accelerates the skin aging process and malfunction
* Are all linked to an increased risk for heart attack and stroke,"
* Increase your risk of developing certain cancers.
* Increase your chances of developing depression.
* Drains your energy: Foods high in added sugar quickly spike blood sugar and insulin levels, leading to increased energy. that’s quickly followed by a sharp drop in blood sugar.
Products that are loaded with sugar but lacking in protein, fiber or fat lead to a brief energy boost that’s quickly followed by a sharp drop in blood sugar,
* Increase kidney disease risk: Having consistently high blood sugar levels can cause damage to the delicate blood vessels in your kidneys. This can lead to an increased risk of kidney disease
* Negatively impact dental
health and Sugar can cause gum disease: Eating too much sugar can cause cavities. Bacteria in your mouth feed on sugar and release acid byproducts, which cause tooth demineralization (loss body minerals such as calcium)
* Increase the risk of developing gout: gout is an inflammatory condition characterized by pain in the joints. Added sugars raise uric acid levels in the blood, increasing the risk of developing or worsening gout
* A high-sugar diet can lead to chromium deficiency: Chromium, a trace mineral, helps regulate blood sugar in the body.
* Sugar affects cognition(understanding) in children: deficits in memory and attention, diminishes mental capacity
The brain uses more energy than any other organ in the human body and glucose is its primary source of fuel. But what happens when the brain is exposed to an excessive amount of sugars. it impairs both our cognitive skills and our self-control. For many people, having a little sugar stimulates a craving for more. Sugar has drug-like effects in the reward center of the brain. Scientists have proposed that sweet foods—along with salty and fatty foods—can produce addiction-like effects
* Weakness of Nerves: such as damage to blood vessels in the brain and eyes causing retinopathy.
