4, SUNSHINE
God created the sun on His 4th day of creation for the human kind Gen 1:16. Every living thing in our world is dependent on sunlight. Let’s take a simple grown up plant keep it inside the house without exposing to sunlight for days, sure it get withered, this shows how much important sunlight is for plants too and how much more we might need them. 

Every living thing in our world is dependent upon the sun. Without sunlight nothing would live. Sunlight is composed of various energy wavelengths of rays like infrared and ultraviolet rays. They use artificial uv sources for different types of treatment in modern medicine.


 USES OF SUNLIGHT:

1. Sun (UVB) rays interact with a protein in skin, converting it into vitamin D and carried to all the part of body and make the bones, teeth and nails strong. 

2. Which destroys harmful bacteria, today it is used to treat bacterial infections.

 3. Sunlight on the body dramatically lowers high blood pressures,

3. Decreases blood cholesterol. Sunlight change the cholesterol just under the skin into vitamin D, thus reducing dangerous deposits (cholesterol) and hardening of the arteries.

4. Lowers excessively high blood sugars, because sunlight has an insulin like effect on the body causing the glycogen (main storage form of glucose in liver and muscle) to increase through out the body, enabling the blood sugar to be lower. Higher storage levels of glycogen result in more body energy for longer stretches of physical activity, with more endurance and less fatigue.(warning: A diabetic taking sunbaths should try reducing his insulin intake, lest he inject too much.)

5. Increases white blood cells.

6. Adequate sunlight on your body will lower your respiratory rate and will cause your breathing to be slower, deeper, and even easier.

7. Sunlight increases the capacity of the blood to carry more oxygen and take it to your body tissues.

8. Bronchial asthma patients who could hardly breathe, were able to inhale freely after a sunbath.

9. Expose sunlight and some exercise tends to 
lessen fatigue and exhaustion and the capacity for work increased.

10. The strength of heart is steadied (Firm) and deepened

11. We all encounter tensions, problems throughout the day, sunlight can easily glide (move smoothly) through the day

12. Sunlight on the body both calms the nerves with mental and physical relaxation by increasing adrenaline.

13. Both gastric and duodenal ulcer patients have been found to improve under the beneficial effects of sunshine

14. Tuberculosis of the skin , bone, and lung are all helped by sunbathing.

15. Fungus infection of the feet and toes are especially helped by sunlight. 

16. Psoriasis and acne can be treated with sunlight.

17. Sunlight also strengthens the body's immune system. Due to the fact that sunlight striking the body increases the number of white blood cells in the body.

18. Sunlight are also helpful for the people who are suffering from Jaundice

19. It was centuries ago that the beneficial value of sunlight in the treatment of arthritis, gout

20. Sunlight helps heal wounds, sore, surface ulcers, better and more rapidly by increasing the blood circulation

21. Research shows that sunlight destroys poisonous chemicals such as lead, mercury, cobalt, manganese, cadmium, fluoride, benzene, pesticides, even aids in the elimination of quartz (mineral crystalline) and coal dust,

22. The amount of valuable trace minerals in the blood are increased

23. It also helps in weight loss by increased thryoid production.

24. Basal body metabolism is thus increased and more calories are burned up.

25. Increase muscle tone, obstetrician discovered that women who obtained extra sun over all their body in the months before delivery were less likely to tear at childbirth. Skin become more flexible and less brittle at the time of delivery.

26. Children becomes greater interest in their classes, attended more regularly and were more alert.

27. General feeling of well being and more cheerful outlook on life. One small illustration, what is your mood during dark, cloudy days? For sure you will be gloomy and sad.

28. Sunlight purifies the air in the room

HOW TO GET ENOUGH SUNLIGHT:

Have good ventilation at home let the sunshine enter your house, office, class rooms, hospital, bed room.

* It is advise to get at least 10-20 minutes of sunlight daily. Black complexion must have their bodies in the sunlight more than the light skinned races.  

* Higher the sun the greater effect

* “Dispense with heavy curtains, open the windows and the blinds, allow no vines, however beautiful, to shade the windows, and permit no trees to stand so near the house as to shut out sunshine.” Adventist Home, P. 149.

By playing in the sunshine and the fresh air, children will gain health and strength of mind and body. They will be benefited both spiritually and physically.”Bible Echo, February 23, 1903
