COMMON COLD
Cold is a viral infection of your nose and throat (upper respiratory tract). It's usually harmless, but uncomfortable. These viruses are easily spread from person to person or surface to surface. Many of these viruses can live on surfaces for hours, even days.
CAUSES:
Although many types of viruses can cause a common cold, rhinoviruses are the most common cause. A cold virus enters your body through your mouth, eyes or nose. The virus can spread through droplets in the air when someone who is sick coughs, sneezes or talks.
It also spreads by hand-to-hand contact with someone who has a cold or by sharing contaminated objects, such as eating utensils, towels, toys or telephones. If you touch your eyes, nose or mouth after such contact, you're likely to catch a cold.
SYMPTOMS:
Symptoms of a common cold usually appear one to three days after exposure to a cold-causing virus. Which can vary from person to person, might include:
Runny or stuffy nose
Sore throat
Watery of eyes
Mild headache
Body ache
Cough
Congestion
Slight body aches or a mild headache
Sneezing
loss of taste and smell
Low-grade fever
Body chill
Swollen lymph
Generally feeling unwell
The discharge from your nose may start out clear and become thicker and yellow or green as a common cold runs its course. This doesn't usually mean you have a bacterial infection.
COMMON COLD SYRUP
Ingredients: Add organic honey inside the chopped onion, garlic, ginger. Keep aside for 4 hours, after which 1-2 tsp of the syrup can be taken 3-4 times a day. The syrup can be stored for many months too.
COMPLICATION:
These conditions can occur along with your cold:
Acute ear infection (otitis media). This occurs when bacteria or viruses enter the space behind the eardrum. Typical signs and symptoms include earaches or the return of a fever following a common cold.
Asthma. A cold can trigger wheezing, even if you don't have asthma. If you have asthma, a cold can make it worse.
Acute sinusitis. In adults or children, a common cold that doesn't resolve can lead to swelling and pain (inflammation) and infection of the sinuses.
Other infections. A common cold can lead to other infections, including strep throat, pneumonia, and croup (barking cough, croup are the result of swelling around the voice box (larynx), windpipe (trachea) and bronchial tubes (bronchi). or bronchiolitis (affects the smaller airways) in children.
POINTS TO REMEMBER
* Cover your cough. Sneeze and cough into tissues. Throw away used tissues right away, then wash your hands thoroughly. If you don't have a tissue, sneeze or cough into the bend of your elbow and then wash your hands.
* Don't share. Don't share drinking glasses or eating utensils with other family members. Use your own glass or disposable cups when you or someone else is sick.
* Stay away from people with colds. Avoid close contact with anyone who has a cold.
* Stay out of crowds, when possible. Avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth.
* Don‘t touch your face. Cold viruses can live on your body without making you sick, but once you touch your mouth, nose, or eyes with infected hands, you’ll likely get sick. Avoid touching your face, or wash your hands before you do so.
* Gargling with salt water. A salt water gargle can help coat your throat and ease irritation.
* Drinking plenty of fluids. Staying well hydrated helps you replace fluids you’ve lost while also helping relieve congestion.

SOME OTHER ADVISES
SORE THROAT
I remember my daughter having a severe throat infection once. It was so bad that she was crying with pain and she couldn't even speak or swallow anything. Gave her half of a pineapple which she ate with much difficulty. Applied the leaves of LILAC TASSELFLOWER Kept on giving her hot water to drink. Praise God. Couldn't believe. By noon the pain was completely gone and she was back to normal.
LILAC TASSELFLOWER
Hydrotherapy
Wrap cold (not warm/hot) wet cloth (handkerchief size) around the neck.
Wrap a plastic sheet around the wet cloth and another dry towel over it... Wet cloth should not be exposed to air - completely covered... It can be done overnight... In the morning it will be dry and warm....
If there is lot of chest congestion, child can wear wet (water should not drip... Wring out water completely) sleeveless baniyan, make a cut for the neck and hands in a dustbin bag and wear this plastic over the wet baniyan... Over this let him wear a woolen sweater.... Very effective treatment... Just a little bit care in wearing is required... Try to speak to someone who has already done it.... You can call me...
If the wrapping is right child will not feel cold at all because of the wet cloth
