AIR

6. AIR:

Our Almighty made the Air, food for lungs, when He created the firmament on 2nd day of His creation, interestingly before he made living being and living things. We can live without food for weeks, for few days without water but not more than few minutes without air, that shows how important air is. Our body’s most important nutritional requirement is not protein, carbohydrates, or fats - it is oxygen! Just as fire in a furnace cannot be kept up without enough air to supply the necessary amount of oxygen for the flames, so that fires of life in the body cannot be maintained without an abundance of oxygen in the body.
Composition of air
Nitrogen-    78%
Oxygen-      21%
Argon-        0.93%
Carbon dioxide-0.04%
Others trace amount of neon, helium, methane, hydrogen as well as water vapor.
Nitrogen makes up almost 4/5 of the air we breathe, but being unreactive is not used in respiration at all. we simply breathe the nitrogen back out again, unchanged. Isn't it wonderful mechanism, how God design our body.
Everyone of us breath in and out hardly knowing the purpose. since God created it has a purpose for every living creature.

How do the fishes gets its oxygen? that is also a wonderful system if we know it.

Air is pulled into the body by lungs and used to fill tiny air sacs that allow blood cells to pick up oxygen, which is then distributed across the body’s cells. Through the process of cellular respiration, this oxygen can then be used to break down sugars and create energy.(Body cells take oxygen from the blood and produce energy after consuming food in the form of ATP (Adenosine triphosphate).

In order to have good blood, we must breathe well. Full, deep inspiration of pure air fill the lungs with oxygen; purify the blood, sending it - a life giving current - to every part of the body.  So that the oxygen will go inside the lungs and purify the blood, because blood is our life. Fresh air will prove far more beneficial to sick persons than medicine and is far more essential to them than their food. The most essential element to sustain life is oxygen. Without its presence, life would be impossible.

“And work performed in the open air is tenfold more beneficial to health than in-door labor.” Fundamentals of Christian Education, P. 73.

"The sick need to be brought into close touch with nature. An outdoor life amid natural surroundings would work wonders for many a helpless and almost hopeless invalid." MH 262

What happen when there is no sufficient fresh air inside the house?

1              1. Room becomes damp- room becomes poisonous because it has not been purified by air and sunlight.

.             2.   Morning we get up feeling exhausted and feverish.

               3. We get sickness like rheumatism, neuralgia, lung complaints, sore throat, fever etc.
4
             4. An insufficient supply of oxygen is received, the blood moves sluggishly.
5
              5. The waste, poisonous matter, which should be thrown off in the exhalation from the lungs, is retained, and the blood becomes impure. Not only the lungs, but the stomach, liver, and brain are affected.

              6. The skin becomes sallow (pale), digestion is retarded, the heart is depressed, the brain clouded, the thoughts are confused, gloom settles upon the spirits, the whole system become depressed and inactive, and peculiarly susceptible to disease.MH 272-273.

             7. Without it the system will be filled with disease, dormant (inactive), languid (Feeble).

What should we do to have fresh air ?

* Proper ventilation should be there in the house, office, shop, class rooms, church. And also proper ventilation in bedroom

* Avoid shade trees and shrubbery too close and dense around the house. Dampness causes miasma (poisonous vapor) endanger health leads to rheumatism, neuralgia, lungs complaint.

* It is now known that fallen leaves emit carbon monoxide fumes (causing dizziness, headache, weakness, confuse, stomach upset, vomiting, chest pain).

* Water should not settle around the house or remaining for a time and then dries away, a poisonous miasma arises and fever and ague (malaria), sore throat, lung diseases will result.

* Houses should be build on high, well drained ground insure a dry site, and prevent the danger  of diseases from dampness and miasma.

* Just after eating and also before retiring, go out side and take 18-20 deep breaths using the muscles of the abdomen.

* Take full, deep inspirations of air. Do not just fill the top of your chest.

* Start the morning with several deep breaths, from time to time through the day repeat this deep breathing practice (exhale strongly).

* When the day is sunny and warm, take the bedding out. The purifying air and sunlight will do much to sterilize it. Take it back into the house before the dampness of the late afternoon sets in. You will notice that it all smells perfectly fresh.

What happen when we take enough fresh air?

* We have good blood and oxygen purifies our blood.
* Fresh air excites the appetite.
* Renders the digestion of food more perfect and induce sound refreshing sleep.
* Life giving current/electrify to every part of the body
* Soothes (calm) the nerves,
* The healing of wounds (but no dust should enter) takes place more quickly in the presence of fresh air and sunlight.
* Deep breathing reduces pain and relaxes the entire system.

AVOID:

* Poisonous gases which include the use of unvented gas heaters, sewer gases (industrial waste), tobacco fumes (cigarette), agricultural sprays defoliant (spray to kill weeds) insecticides, mosquito spraying, poisonous
fumes, vapour
* Stove heat destroys the vitality of the air and weakens the lungs.
* Automobile exhaust fumes, which contain two deadly chemicals vaporized lead and sulfuric acid. Lead fumes inhaled into the body, cause the destruction of red blood cells.

Air is also great pain killer:

It's not the pain killing properties of aspirin which make it so beneficial for arthritic patients to reduce pain and swelling, stiffness. prevent blood clots forming following a heart attack or stroke or to help prevent heart attacks and strokes in patients, muscle aches, toothaches, headaches. WHY

Aspirin produces what is called "hyper-ventilation"- the patient constantly breathes deeply and rapidly, often while he's at rest,. In turn, this hyper-ventilation lowers the amount of carbon dioxide in the blood.

The above valuable information that you and I can use every day of our lives. Deep breathing reduces pain and relaxes the entire system.

Stomach, liver, lungs, and brain are suffering for want of deep, full inspirations of air.—HL 612
